Welcome! Successfully completing this module will prepare you to work with features of the Canvas Classroom Template. The information and activities will help you understand how the template is structured so that you can customize it to fit your teaching style while supporting student learning.

Learning Objectives

  1. Accurately identify elements of the online template.
  2. Customize template pages and containers to reflect your course content.
  3. Quickly fix errors or restore pages to earlier versions.
  4. Discriminate between what can and what cannot be duplicated in Canvas, and by extension, in the Template.
  5. Duplicate and repurpose template pages, discussions, and assignments.
  6. Understand the structure of the template home page in a way that informs what you can and cannot customize on the page.
  7. Correctly make changes that are reflected in the module lists on the home page.
  8. Understand the nuances and refresh/update patterns of the template home page.
  9. Know what to do if you cannot find a relatively timely solution to a problem you encounter working with the Online Classroom Template.

To Do List

  1. If you are comfortable with the template, you can go directly to the 2-part Online Classroom Template Exam. If you pass Part 1 with 100% and Part 2 with 80%, then you are done.  With that said, the exam is not a general use exam because it includes specific details from this module.
  2. If you are not yet familiar with the template, working through this module will prepare you to pass the Online Classroom Template Exam.
  3. You can take the Exam at any time.
