There are millions of books and hundreds of databases available to help you research any topic imaginable! UNC Michener and Skinner Music Libraries' Search Engine Links to an external site. provides several search options for accessing library resources. Explore the different tabs on the home page to Summon (articles), Catalog (books, music, videos, etc.), Databases (online database search via an A-to-Z list or by vendors, subjects, or type), Journals (search journals either by subject or title), or Reserves (course reserves).

Research and Collections

UNC Libraries' Research Guides: Links to an external site. Find information, resources, and support from UNC's Michener and Skinner Music Libraries. Search these research guides by subject, guide type, or by owner (librarian).

Digital UNC Links to an external site.: This resource provides access to original research, scholarship, and creative works produced by UNC faculty, as well as special collections that are unique to UNC.

Equipment Checkout: Links to an external site. Borrow technology for your creative and academic projects from the library. You can borrow laptops, cameras, and microphones to record podcasts and vlogs. There's also a Nintendo Switch, a Go Pro, and a free State Parks Pass!

Reserve Study Rooms: Links to an external site. Both the Michener and Skinner libraries have study rooms for solo or group studying. This resource provides information on which accommodations you can find, links to reserve a study room, and more.

Library Help and Support

In addition to online and print resources, the library has a team of librarians who can help you with your research papers and projects. If you have questions about finding, evaluating, or citing sources, you can schedule an appointment with a librarian in person or online.
