Policies that change your GPA
As a Bear, get familiar with the policies related to Grades and Standing:
- Academic Review Appeals give you a chance for another semester if you were suspended. If you need to submit an appeal, you will receive emails from your success and probation support. We also host info sessions on Zoom each semester. For more information, visit the Probation Support for Students Links to an external site. website.
- The Course Repeats Policy Links to an external site. vs. the Grade Replacement Policy Links to an external site. make a difference. If you retake a class, submit your Grade Replacement form to make sure it isn't a "repeat." You will get reminder emails about this, but it is better to submit the form at the same time you register for the retaken class. Basically, repeats stay in your GPA while replacements drop the original grade.
- Incompletes Links to an external site. let you finish the class within a year. You will need to request this option with your professor directly.
- Academic Appeals Links to an external site. begin with your professor if you feel like something was inaccurate about your grades.
- Academic Misconduct is about cheating and academic dishonesty. Visit the Community Standards and Conflict Resolution's Student Resources

Form a study group this week: remember that your study group doesn't *have* to be folks in your classes. Your study group could be your friends or roommates, as long as you all commit to a study time and space together. Being around other people who are reading or working can create a vibe where everyone focuses better and helps keep each other on task.
