Finding scholarships for next year
Most Bears receive financial aid or assistance, and that assistance can come from scholarships every year. A lot of people assume that scholarships are just for high school seniors, but we have opportunities that you can apply for every year until you graduate.
Apply to the UNC Foundation scholarships
UNC offers a variety of student scholarships to help pay for the cost of education, and the money doesn't need to be paid back like a loan. Visit the Office of Financial Aid's Student Scholarships Links to an external site. website for a full list of UNC Scholarships and an application guide!
Every year, the UNC Scholarship application opens on November 1. You can apply through Ursa on your Financial Tab, and the single app makes it easier to find several options at once. You might need to submit additional materials or answer added questions for specific scholarships in the portal. Some of the Foundation Scholarships require you to submit your FAFSA. For more information about filling out the FAFSA, visit the Help with my financial aid page.
February 1 is always the deadline for Foundation Scholarships. Plan on applying over Winter Break to make sure you don't miss any deadlines! If you are awarded a Foundation Scholarship, you will receive it for the next academic year.
